“Mountains” captures that awe-inspiring feeling of fog giving way to the appearance of blue mountains in the distance, with the morning sky in the background. The dial is matched with a deep cerulean blue case and leather strap. The haiku poet, Taneda Santōka, inspires Minako-san in this piece–who once noted “Patiently I taste the mountains,” in appreciation of its natural sensory joy.
Meet Minako Okada
Minako Okada, founder of the MinaHomi Design Workshop, is building her own modern-day interpretation of Japanese pattern designs. Inspired by her world travels and the seasons of Japan, Minako-san’s work conveys nature and beauty in a fun & vibrant way.
About the Collection
The “Fleeting Spring” collection is a bit of fun & joy–a vibrantly colored collection created by Minako Okada, who creates modern day “wagara” designs, a traditional kimono & yukata seasonal pattern style. Perfect for those who want some pop on their wrist with deeper meaning.
Minako-san’s collection highlights the Japanese appreciation for “mono no aware,” that feeling of heightened appreciation for things in the present that don’t last forever. The collection captures that natural impermanence of spring, with flora and fauna telling the story of the seasons in Minako-san’s Kamakura and Yokohama.
